It is also a giant step towards the creation of a European CIA tasked not with keeping tabs on foreign enemies, but spying on its own population.</p> <p align="left">The surveillance system, known as <a href="http://www.indect-project.eu/">Project Indect</a>, promises to collect information by way of "continuous monitoring" of "web sites, discussion forums, usenet groups, file servers, p2p networks [and] individual computer systems". It will also use CCTV feeds and other surveillance methods to develop models of "suspicious behavior" by analyzing the pitch of people's voices (suggesting that private conversations will be recorded) as well as "the way their bodies move".</p> <p align="left">Its main objective will be the "automatic detection of threats and abnormal behavior or violence".</p> <p align="left">This is Echelon on steroids, a new version of the decades old NSA-run program that has already been spying on citizens for years, updated and expanded for the technological applications of the early 21st century. In 1999, the <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/503224.stm">Australian government admitted that they were part of an NSA-led global intercept and surveillance grid</a> in alliance with the US and Britain that could listen to "every international telephone call, fax, e-mail, or radio transmission," on the planet. The concept was eventually incorporated into many prisons that continue today as "podular" designs, which also maximizes the amount of people that can be controlled by one person. The fact that authorities are building societal prisons around us all today using the same basic methods of control is enough to send a chill down anyone's spine and remind us once again that freedom is a myth.</p> <p>This has nothing to do with catching criminals – <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/6082530/1000-CCTV-cameras-to-solve-just-one-crime-Met-Police-admits.html">as recent figures in the UK have proven</a>, CCTV cameras have virtually no impact on crime whatsoever. The $150,000 software will be provided free of charge to ISPs in a couple of months and will reroute all site requests to Government-owned servers. The software, called Whitebox, compares users' site requests with a list of banned links. If a match is found, the request is denied. It will not cover email, file sharing or borderline material.</p><p>Internal Affairs Secretary Keith Manch said the scheme was voluntary for internet service providers, but Yahoo!, Xtra, TelstraClear and Vodafone - representing over 93 per cent of the market - had all expressed interest in adopting it.</p><p>Internal Affairs first trialled the scheme in 2007 and 2008 with some ISPs, but IT Minister Steven Joyce said in March that the Government had no plans to introduce internet filtering technology. The minister's office yesterday declined to comment.</p><p>Critics say the system has been introduced by stealth and lacks accountability. As numerous observers have noted since the attacks, it is unlikely North Korea was behind the attacks. "Some analysts have questioned the North's involvement, saying it may be the work of industrial spies or pranksters," reports <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/US/WireStory?id=8047535&page=2" target="_blank">Reuters</a>.</p> Instead of North Korea, the Korea Communications Commission now claims the original attacks were based in Germany, Austria, Georgia, the United States and South Korea. The location of the hackers behind the attacks is still unknown, according to the KCC. <p>The cyber attacks will now enter a new phase by attacking personal computers and wiping out hard disks, South Korea claims. South Korean web security firm Ahnlab, which has closely examined the attacks, said the new phase would target data on tens of thousands of infected personal computers. Ahnlab sells antivirus software, online security solutions, and network security appliances such as firewalls.</p> <p>The new alleged threat and accompanying propaganda comes as Senate Commerce Chairman John (Jay) Rockefeller prepares for a July committee vote on cybersecurity legislation he introduced in April with Sen. a key legal step to trigger special powers for regional medical officers of health.</p><p>"The illness that this pandemic is causing is not severe enough to warrant the use of the powers that issuing the notice would permit," Fran McGrath, deputy director of public health told NZPA.</p><p>A total of 127 cases has been confirmed in New Zealand, up 18 from 109 yesterday, and 105 of them are current cases.</p><p>There are also 20 probable cases.</p><p>The cumulative total of confirmed cases by region are:</p> <p>Auckland 42, Waikato 4, Bay of Plenty/Lakes 3, Hawke's Bay 1, Wanganui/Palmerston North 1, Wellington 27, Nelson/Marlborough 1 and Canterbury 30.</p><p>Under an epidemic notice, authorised by the prime minister, regional medical officers of health have the power to:</p><p>* Require people to submit to medical examination or testing at specified times and places;</p> <p>* Require persons, places, buildings, ships, vehicles, aircraft, animals or things to be tested, isolated, quarantined or disinfected as they think fit;</p> <p>* Restrict the movement of people and vehicles;</p><p>* Set up emergency hospitals;</p><p>* Restrict public gatherings;</p><p>* Close any premises, except for Parliament and private homes;</p><p>* Call on police to use reasonable force if they need that to carry out their duties.</p> <p>Dr McGrath said the current priority was containment of the virus, which was estimated to have a "reproductive value" of 1.4, which meant that every two people who fell ill were expected to transmit the disease to three other people.</p><p>"Increased spread of the virus could overwhelm the health services during the already busy winter season," she said.</p><p>"While the virus in the main causes moderate illness in most people, there is an increased risk for some groups such as those with a chronic disease and pregnancy."</p><p>The country was still in a "containment phase", she said.</p><p>Containment involved both border management and stamping out clusters of the virus spread.</p><p>Doctors were telling arriving travellers that only people with flu-like symptoms within four days of overseas travel were now considered to be at risk of having the swine flu form of the A(H1N1) virus.</p><p>But as more cases were confirmed in the community the focus would shift to boosting the way care was provided in the community, Dr McGrath said.</p><p>Planning for this "manage it" phase provided for community-based health services to manage large numbers of people with influenza as well as maintain services for patients with other illnesses.</p><p>As much as 30 per cent of the population was expected to contract the swine flu, but the symptoms, which included fever, coughing, a sore throat and often diarrhoea, disappeared after about five days.</p><p>In this "manage it" phase, many people would be sent home to look after themselves - in the same way they would with seasonal flu.</p><p>They would be told to stay home for seven days after the start of symptoms or until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours - whichever was longer.</p><p>Health officials expected most ill New Zealanders would be able to nurse themselves at home, though an Australian expert has warned asthma and A(H1N1) flu were a potentially deadly mix.</p><p>Dr Matthew Peters, head of respiratory medicine at a Sydney Hospital, said chronic heart or lung disease and diabetes were common ailments that could dramatically escalate the risk posed by the virus.</p><p>"Around 40 per cent of admissions to hospital with swine flu-related illnesses in the US have been in people with asthma," he said.</p><p>Asked to what extent the ministry was looking to the two-week school holidays due to start on July 3 as a potential "firebreak" in reducing the rate of community transmission, Dr McGrath said the school holidays "may be very useful as a break".</p><p><a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10579102">Link</a><br /></p><p>- NZPA</p><div class="blogger-post-footer"><a href="http://3dem.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">http://3dem.blogspot.com - It would be to enforce isolation, because the purpose of this is public health.</p><p>"Public health is not served by fining them."</p><p>The preference was to isolate people at home, or at hospital if necessary, he said.</p><p>Asked if police cells could be used, he said it was "unlikely but is in theory a possibility."</p><p>And he said it was unlikely the powers triggered by ministerial order or emergency declaration would be needed, even if swine flu - influenza, A (H1N1) - spread widely.</p><p>It has been contained in New Zealand; the tally of confirmed cased yesterday was 17.</p><p>Worldwide, more than 25,000 cases, including 139 deaths, have been reported. Australia's total has passed 1200 cases, mostly in Victoria, and is rising rapidly.</p><p>A group of <a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10577383" target="_blank">Gisborne Boys' High school students</a> who travelled home from a school trip to Brisbane on Sunday were yesterday isolated at school for the day.</p><p>Those with flu symptoms were given Tamiflu and asked to stay at home in isolation. It would be more logical to call the virus "North American influenza", a name based on its geographic origin like the Spanish influenza, a human flu pandemic with animal origin that killed more than 50 million people in 1918-1919.<br /><br />"The virus has not been isolated in animals to date. Therefore it is not justified to name this disease swine influenza," the Paris-based World Organisation for Animal Health, also known as the OIE, said in a statement. The European Commission said that the virus was not linked with pork. Robert Madelin, director-general of the Commission's health and food safety department, said in Brussels that no European Union trade restrictions on imports were planned since swine flu had nothing to do with the food chain.<br /><br />The EU only imports insignificant numbers of live pigs and pigmeat products are not seen as a disease threat. The World Health Organization has ruled out any risk of infection from consuming pork, saying swine flu has not been shown to be transmissible to people through eating properly handled and prepared pork, or other products derived from pigs. Fears of a global flu pandemic grew after 103 people were killed in Mexico and new infections were found in the United States and Canada and possible cases as far afield as Europe, Israel and New Zealand.<br /><br />The OIE, an intergovernmental organisation, warned that if the virus was shown to cause disease in animals, this could worsen the regional and global public health situation. Denmark, a major pork producer that exported nearly 2 million tonnes of pigmeat in 2008, said on Monday it was not putting any extra controls in place on pigs or introducing extra measures relating to pork production as a result of the flu threat.<br /><br />The Danish food and agriculture ministry also said it had not received any information from the industry suggesting pork demand had been hit by concerns arising from the virus. It said it would monitor the situation closely in coming days.<br /><br />Fears there could be a global flu pandemic which would hurt fragile world economies led to a broad-based decline in stocks, oil and other commodity markets on Monday. We will be stretched," said Simon O'Brien, a police commander responsible for the 7.2 million ($18 million) operation to secure the city.</p><p>Tens of thousands of demonstrators plan four days of protests at sites across London, threatening to overwhelm police and potentially leave the capital more vulnerable.</p> <p>The Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, said that while no specific plot against the G20 summit had been identified, terrorists could strike "without warning at any time".</p><p>Michael Clarke, head of the Royal United Services Institute think-tank, said small terrorist groups might use the cover of protests by environmentalists, antiwar activists and unions to mount an attack.</p><p>"The protests will cause uncertainty and chaos, and if they turn violent could complicate the lives of those police and security service staff who are looking for terrorists," said Clarke, who sits on the Government's National Security Forum advisory panel.</p><p>Police arrested five people in Plymouth yesterday under terrorism laws and recovered replica weapons, fireworks and activist material. Officers are investigating whether they planned to target the summit.</p><p>The investigation was sparked after a 25-year-old man was charged with spraying graffiti on a wall in Plymouth city centre, prompting officers to search his flat. They discovered a replica Kalashnikov assault rifle and several minor explosive devices made from fireworks.</p><p>About 5000 police - some armed with Tasers - will guard London, and an extra 35,000 will be on standby for the summit tomorrow night NZT. Some will be at the summit venue in London's Docklands, with others protecting posh hotels and the sleek glass towers of the financial district.</p><p>In the light of November's seaborne attack on Mumbai, India's financial centre, extra patrol boats will guard the Thames, and police frogmen will scour the river for floating bombs.</p><p>Police will tap London's network of 10,000 CCTV cameras to monitor protests, while an Army special forces unit will be on alert to respond.</p><p>Pepe Egger, a senior security analyst at Exclusive Analysis Ltd, said banks and hotels had prepared for attempted raids or sieges.</p><p>Unlike previous summits, most protests in London would be away from the actual meeting venue at the ExCel centre, he said.</p><p>"The interesting thing is that the protesters are unlikely to target the G20 delegates, their anger is not directed at the G20 itself. They will target the banks and financial district."</p><p>Anger at bankers is high in both Britain and the United States, where some of the bailout money for stricken banks was spent on staff bonuses.</p><p>Banks have told staff to dress in casual clothes today and tomorrow, to forgo cigarette breaks outside and cancel all but their most critical meetings.</p><p>"I'm pretty worried," said Luke Keyser, a 28-year-old at the Royal Bank of Scotland. And yet, it is on the back of the masses that banks carry their successes in terms of profitability, year after year after year.<br /><br />They make their money in a number of ways, including but not limited to charging phenomenal interest rates. In return they pay hardly anything to depositors.<br /><br />Their practices border on daylight robbery – practices sanctioned by competent authorities and the legal system in every country.<br /><br />Most, if not all, qualify for insolvency if they were to uphold the same rules imposed on ordinary folks.<br />But we will never know why they are allowed to continue in business.<br /><br />And the reason we will never know about what banks do with your money [I don’t have any] is clear. No one in his right mind broadcasts the secrets of his success.<br /><br />But history has been kind, leaving important indicators on the secrecy under which banks operate.<br />Many have left the door to banks ajar for those who care to peep in. People like Henry Ford, the man whose family name is synonymous with the United States auto industry.<br /><br />Or Reginald McKenna, who was Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chairman of the Board of the Midland Bank between 1915 – 1916.<br /><br />Henry Ford, for example, once said of banks in the United States:<br />“It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning”.<br /><br />Mr. McKenna said:<br />“I am afraid the ordinary citizen will not like to be told that the banks can, and do, create money … Those who create and issue money and credit direct the policies of government and hold in the hollow of their hands the destiny of the people”.<br /><br />As indicated in this column last week, these are some of the issues I wish to discuss this week in the hope of enlightening us to the reality.<br /><br />For example, given the practices by the banks, what do we as a nation need to do?<br />More work and less talking. Any meaningful intervention in this murky area, however, has to be spearheaded by Government and its monetary policy.<br /><br />It is in this light that one, <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Kelvyn Alp</span>, a New Zealander, has provided the Government a “must read” document titled, Solomon Islands Economic Reform – Monetary System and Taxation.<br /><br />Copies were widely distributed to Members of Parliament, particularly Government Ministers and Members of Government Caucus last year. It was provided as a Parliamentary Discussion Document.<br />The 36-page document was dated 8th November 2008.<br /><br />It is a ‘must read’ if one were to understand the banking system here, the monetary system and taxation and what is urgently required to deal with these problematic areas.<br /><br />In the preamble, Alp says the document “is an urgent reminder of the need to look beyond the established and ultimately flawed economic theories that have caused such devastation to nations the world over”.<br /><br />“All too often there are those that are ever ready to give advice to developing nations like Solomon Islands, while at the same time, concealing the true nature and intent of that advice. Change will never come from systems that have been proven to fail time and time again.<br /><br />“In this document, I shall deal with the truth and facts only,” he said.<br /><br />Alp argued that many have studied and received degrees for subjects covered in the document, “yet have never comprehended the underlying mechanics of those lessons and how they relate to real-world economies”.<br />He urged readers to be willing to put the interests of the people and nation above their own.<br /><br />“This must be done despite the constant pressure being applied by some to retain the status-quo and further have you implement disastrous policies that will place you, your family and the nation, in a continuous position of servitude,” the former military man turned businessman said.<br /><br />An avid reader of a wide range of subjects, I must say I am fascinated by the clarity and indeed the message being conveyed in this document.<br /><br />The more I read this revolutionary document, the more I want to be out there doing something. The feeling I have experienced will only be felt if one’s passionate about what needs to be done and fast.<br /><br />For example, how do you feel about phrases such as “today’s money [is] created by private interests for private profit”.<br /><br />Alp quoted Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a banker who in 1790 said and I quote: “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes its laws”.<br /><br />Many will probably recall reading somewhere that Rothschild was one of the founding fathers of what we know today as America’s Federal Reserve, the equivalent of our Central Bank.<br /><br />The US Federal Reserve was never a Government institution. It’s an invention by businessmen who want to control the world’s wealth. And they do today. Kissinger, Jan 12 2009.<br /></p><p>As the new U.S. administration prepares to take office amid grave financial and international crises, it may seem counterintuitive to argue that the very unsettled nature of the international system generates a unique opportunity for creative diplomacy.</p> <p>That opportunity involves a seeming contradiction. On one level, the financial collapse represents a major blow to the standing of the United States. While American political judgments have often proved controversial, the American prescription for a world financial order has generally been unchallenged. Now disillusionment with the United States' management of it is widespread.</p> <p>At the same time, the magnitude of the debacle makes it impossible for the rest of the world to shelter any longer behind American predominance or American failings.</p> <p>Every country will have to reassess its own contribution to the prevailing crisis. Each will seek to make itself independent, to the greatest possible degree, of the conditions that produced the collapse; at the same time, each will be obliged to face the reality that its dilemmas can be mastered only by common action.</p> <p>Even the most affluent countries will confront shrinking resources. Each will have to redefine its national priorities. An international order will emerge if a system of compatible priorities comes into being. It will fragment disastrously if the various priorities cannot be reconciled.</p> <p>The nadir of the existing international financial system coincides with simultaneous political crises around the globe. Never have so many transformations occurred at the same time in so many different parts of the world and been made globally accessible via instantaneous communication. The alternative to a new international order is chaos.</p> <p>The financial and political crises are, in fact, closely related partly because, during the period of economic exuberance, a gap had opened up between the economic and the political organization of the world.</p> <p>The economic world has been globalized. Its institutions have a global reach and have operated by maxims that assumed a self-regulating global market.</p> <p>The financial collapse exposed the mirage. It made evident the absence of global institutions to cushion the shock and to reverse the trend. Inevitably, when the affected publics turned to their national political institutions, these were driven principally by domestic politics, not considerations of world order.</p> <p>Every major country has attempted to solve its immediate problems essentially on its own and to defer common action to a later, less crisis-driven point. So-called rescue packages have emerged on a piecemeal national basis, generally by substituting seemingly unlimited governmental credit for the domestic credit that produced the debacle in the first place - so far without more than stemming incipient panic.</p> <p>International order will not come about either in the political or economic field until there emerge general rules toward which countries can orient themselves.</p> <p>In the end, the political and economic systems can be harmonized in only one of two ways: by creating an international political regulatory system with the same reach as that of the economic world; or by shrinking the economic units to a size manageable by existing political structures, which is likely to lead to a new mercantilism, perhaps of regional units.</p> <p>A new Bretton Woods-kind of global agreement is by far the preferable outcome. America's role in this enterprise will be decisive. Paradoxically, American influence will be great in proportion to the modesty in our conduct; we need to modify the righteousness that has characterized too many American attitudes, especially since the collapse of the Soviet Union.</p> <p>That seminal event and the subsequent period of nearly uninterrupted global growth induced too many to equate world order with the acceptance of American designs, including our domestic preferences.</p> <p>The result was a certain inherent unilateralism - the standard complaint of European critics - or else an insistent kind of consultation by which nations were invited to prove their fitness to enter the international system by conforming to American prescriptions.</p> <p>Not since the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy half a century ago has a new administration come into office with such a reservoir of expectations. It is unprecedented that all the principal actors on the world stage are avowing their desire to undertake the transformations imposed on them by the world crisis in collaboration with the United States.</p> <p>The extraordinary impact of the president-elect on the imagination of humanity is an important element in shaping a new world order. But it defines an opportunity, not a policy.</p> <p>The ultimate challenge is to shape the common concern of most countries and all major ones regarding the economic crisis, together with a common fear of jihadist terrorism, into a common strategy reinforced by the realization that the new issues like proliferation, energy and climate change permit no national or regional solution.</p><p><br /></p><p>The new administration could make no worse mistake than to rest on its initial popularity. The cooperative mood of the moment needs to be channeled into a grand strategy going beyond the controversies of the recent past.</p> <p>The charge of American unilateralism has some basis in fact; it also has become an alibi for a key European difference with America: that the United States still conducts itself as a national state capable of asking its people for sacrifices for the sake of the future, while Europe, suspended between abandoning its national framework and a yet-to-be-reached political substitute, finds it much harder to defer present benefits.</p> <p>Hence its concentration on soft power. Most Atlantic controversies have been substantive and only marginally procedural; there would have been conflict no matter how intense the consultation. The Atlantic partnership will depend much more on common policies than agreed procedures.</p> <p>The role of China in a new world order is equally crucial. A relationship that started on both sides as essentially a strategic design to constrain a common adversary has evolved over the decades into a pillar of the international system.</p> <p>China made possible the American consumption splurge by buying American debt; America helped the modernization and reform of the Chinese economy by opening its markets to Chinese goods.</p> <p>Both sides overestimated the durability of this arrangement. But while it lasted, it sustained unprecedented global growth. It mitigated as well the concerns over China's role once China emerged in full force as a fellow superpower. A consensus had developed according to which adversarial relations between these pillars of the international system would destroy much that had been achieved and benefit no one. That conviction needs to be preserved and reinforced.</p> <p>Each side of the Pacific needs the cooperation of the other in addressing the consequences of the financial crisis. Now that the global financial collapse has devastated Chinese export markets, China is emphasizing infrastructure development and domestic consumption.</p> <p>It will not be easy to shift gears rapidly, and the Chinese growth rate may fall temporarily below the 7.5 percent that Chinese experts have always defined as the line that challenges political stability. America needs Chinese cooperation to address its current account imbalance and to prevent its exploding deficits from sparking a devastating inflation.</p> <p>What kind of global economic order arises will depend importantly on how China and America deal with each other over the next few years. A frustrated China may take another look at an exclusive regional Asian structure, for which the nucleus already exists in the Asean-plus-three concept.</p> <p>At the same time, if protectionism grows in America or if China comes to be seen as a long-term adversary, a self-fulfilling prophecy may blight the prospects of global order.</p> <p>Such a return to mercantilism and 19th-century diplomacy would divide the world into competing regional units with dangerous long-term consequences.</p> <p>The Sino-American relationship needs to be taken to a new level. The current crisis can be overcome only by developing a sense of common purpose. Such issues as proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, energy and the environment demand strengthened political ties between China and the United States.</p> <p>This generation of leaders has the opportunity to shape trans-Pacific relations into a design for a common destiny, much as was done with trans-Atlantic relations in the immediate postwar period - except that the challenges now are more political and economic than military.</p> <p>Such a vision must embrace as well such countries as Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Australia and <b>New Zealand</b>, whether as part of trans-Pacific structures or, in regional arrangements, dealing with special subjects as energy, proliferation and the environment.</p> <p>The complexity of the emerging world requires from America a more historical approach than the insistence that every problem has a final solution expressible in programs with specific time limits not infrequently geared to our political process.</p> <p>We must learn to operate within the attainable and be prepared to pursue ultimate ends by the accumulation of nuance.</p> <p>An international order can be permanent only if its participants have a share not only in building but also in securing it. It further asserts that "The Islamic Resistance Movement is a humanistic movement. It takes care of human rights and is guided by Islamic tolerance when dealing with the followers of other religions. It does not antagonize anyone of them except if it is antagonized by it or stands in its way to hamper its moves and waste its efforts. Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam. Past and present history are the best witness to that."</p> <p>The thirty-six articles of the Covenant detail the movement's Islamist beliefs regarding the primacy of Islam in all aspects of life. The Covenant identifies Hamas as the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine and considers its members to be Muslims who "fear God and raise the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors." Hamas describes resisting and quelling the enemy as the individual duty of every Muslim and prescribes vigilant roles for all members of society; including men and women, professionals, scientists and students. For example Israel is described as "a vicious enemy which acts in a way similar to Nazism, making no differentiation between man and woman, between children and old people" and predicts that the "Zionist Nazi activities against our people will not last for long."</p> <p>The Charter outlines the organization's position on various issues, including social and economic development and ideological influences, education, as well as its position regarding Israel. Amongst many other things, it reiterates the group's rejection of the principle of coexistence with Zionism, which it defines as a danger not just to Palestinians, but to all Arab states. While primarily focusing on what it calls the "Zionist invasion" of Palestine as the cause of conflict, in places the Charter asserts that Zionism was able to achieve its ends due to the activities of secret organizations such as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemasons" title="Freemasons" class="mw-redirect">Freemasons</a> and cites as an example the ability of Zionists to obtain the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfour_Declaration_of_1917" title="Balfour Declaration of 1917">Balfour Declaration of 1917 (or see the end of this post)</a>. The Charter asserts that through shrewd manipulation of imperial countries and secret societies, Zionists were behind a wide range of events and disasters going as far back in history as the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution" title="French Revolution">French Revolution</a> and that "There is no war going on anywhere, without having their finger in it." The Charter also selectively quotes Islamic religious texts to provide justification for fighting against and killing Jews.</p> <p>A memorandum prepared by the group's political bureau in the 1990s at the request of western diplomats and published in a book by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azzam_Tamimi" title="Azzam Tamimi">Azzam Tamimi</a> stated that Hamas is "a Palestinian national liberation movement that struggles for the liberation of the Palestinian occupied territories and for the recognition of Palestinian legitimate rights." Hamas, the document stated, "regards itself as an extension of an old tradition that goes back to the early 20th century struggle against British and Zionist colonialism in Palestine." The memorandum notes that in principle Hamas does not endorse targeting civilians, but argues that attacks which did so represented "an exception necessitated by Israel's insistence on targeting Palestinian civilians and by Israel's refusal to agree to an understanding prohibiting the killing of civilians on both sides comparable to the one reached between Israel and Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon."<sup id="cite_ref-66" class="reference"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas#cite_note-66" title=""><span>[</span>67<span>]</span></a></sup> Even in the 1990s, according to this memorandum, the organization foresaw the day when "dialogue" between itself and Israel would be possible, but warned that "The prospect of the movement initiating, or accepting dialogue with Israel is nonexistent at present because of the skewed balance of power between the Palestinians and the Israelis. The consulate is being targeted because the US has given unconditional backing to the Israeli government in these attacks.</p><p>Initial reports indicate at least 200 Palestinians have been killed and close to 800 injured in what has been described as one of the worst indiscriminate killings of Palestinians in the 60 years since they were driven from their homes and their land by Jewish terror squads at the founding of Israel. </p> <p>Israel says the attacks are in retaliation for rocket attacks against Israel from inside Gaza. Did the bank assess this thinking the student would become a doctor or lawyer who could repay this? No, because most would take a part time job afterwards in some dodgy fast food place or call centre close to minimum wage in order to survive, and in turn these places hire and fire quicker than they over sales most of the time. They may end up at a WINZ office, and WINZ will push them onto anything other than unemployment to keep the unemployment benefit numbers down, so someone could then be falsifying a mental illness and be drugged up on med's to get by on direction from the government. I have interviewed many people like this or they pass uni and go oversea's only to come back not long after in a worse case and paying back IRD so much money and still the banks on the amount of thin air credit loaned and then interest to kill there wages.<br /><br />This is the banks faults, its the big companies making a killing literally in some cases like weapons manufacturers, fast food outlets, oil companies and so on who market more and more there products and services which are made by P.R to look essential and con people into debt by credit.<br /><br />Banks work from other deposits normal people make in good faith thinking 'we trust our bank', banks should be an optional service, not compulsory for your wages to be done as a commercial transaction, they (the banks) gain interest on the money in balance in there banks and loan out credit which is not based of there own books, but these deposits as some do know this harsh truth.<br /><br />It's much the same with the reserve bank it has no real money but now will based on bonds, credit issued in the form of paper bills printed to the crown then passed to us. The national debt as its called.<br /><br />To make the elite crash happen quicker everyone could withdraw all there money, buy a safe and store there own money and invest in gold, but remember last time people did this, the U.S government issued prohibition on gold, they did much the same on alcohol and tobacco. The N.Z government would likely follow, hence the guaranteed deposit scheme hoo-haa that most banker controlled states and nations of the western world are doing and have done.<br /><br />Kiwibank currently is running somewhat anti-aussie-bank ad's, well Kiwibank is in debt if you look at logically, its government owned, which i would support nationalization as opposed to privatization of capitialist foreign powers,but anyway the crown owes the national debt, the citizens and persons who are registered with stock certificates as a security interest (birth certificates) vest debt based on liability to pay such things like compulsory taxes and fee's, foreign examples include insurances.<br /><br />This in turn gives people less wealth and more wealth in the hands of the banks and governments as these are processed in N.Z prior to clearance, i mean tax is deducted before you can withdraw your pay, as is the case via PAYE, student loans, kiwisaver, ACC levies, other taxes, child support, court fines and possibly more examples. So the individual has alot less than what starts off, it puts wealth again to clarify out of the hands of the worker. Then to note this worker pays his or her bills and is expected to live, at this point they could be able to afford other things but if not a life on credit is led by a large flock of sheep in example.
