Condemnation of Israel over Gaza

Recent protest in Auckland at Israeli-US efforts in the Middle East, Gaza bombings and attacks of innoncent civilians and schools, this is what the mainstream media won't call Israeli led & U.S sponsored terrorism and war crimes on the Palestinian people, particularly Gaza.

Dear Prime Minister,

I wish to relay to you the words of the UN General Assembly President and to urge your Government to take a stand and condemn the continuing Israeli assault on the people of Gaza. The position of your Government to not condemn Israel's genocidal and apartheid policies bring shame not only to you but to the whole of New Zealand.

"The behavior by Israel in bombarding Gaza is simply the commission of wanton aggression by a very powerful state against a territory that it illegally occupies.

Time has come to take firm action if the United Nations does not want to be rightly accused of complicity by omission.

The Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip represent severe and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions, both in regard to the obligations of an Occupying Power and in the requirements of the laws of war.

Those violations include:

Collective punishment – the entire 1.5 million people who live in the crowded Gaza Strip are being punished for the actions of a few militants.

Targeting civilians – the airstrikes were aimed at civilian areas in one of the most crowded stretches of land in the world, certainly the most densely populated area of the Middle East.

Disproportionate military response – the airstrikes have not only destroyed every police and security office of Gaza's elected government, but have killed and injured hundreds of civilians; at least one strike reportedly hit groups of students attempting to find transportation home from the university.

I remind all member states of the United Nations that the UN continues to be bound to an independent obligation to protect any civilian population facing massive violations of international humanitarian law – regardless of what country may be responsible for those violations. I call on all Member States, as well as officials and every relevant organ of the United Nations system, to move expeditiously not only to condemn Israel's serious violations, but to develop new approaches to providing real protection for the Palestinian people."

Yours Sincerely,

One of many New Zealander's Concerned and against Israeli agression.

I do see some urgency created by thousands of missiles being fired into Israel. A military response seems the only immediate possibility.

Ham handed targeting, lack of publicly stated justification for some actions, the appearance of collective punishment, and the biblically inspired settlements in occupied territory clearly exacerbate fanatism, as is argued here.

But according to leaders of Hamas, the ones sending missiles, the most basic of underlying causes are the existence of Israel and the insistence by Jews of continuing to breathe.

your link as is argued here does not work.

anyway, to think that the US-Israeli alliance has bombed Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan with thousands plus more than any such Palestinian has done.

This is all the case of the media and fools being sympathetic and conditioned by the Zionists method. If you dont believe me, then it's funny how on 9/11 the 4 non-arab's on the George Washington bridge who were Israeli's were never mentioned after 10/11, much like the theory of explosives get thrown out by doubt of such fools and evil-doers also.

To me the Palestinian's are acting in defense to aggression, which we all know that the land was stolen from them, see this post - http://3dem.blogspot.com/2009/01/hamas-vs-zionism.html
