Internet Attack Propaganda Increases as Cyber Bill Approaches - Infowars.com

Earlier this week South Korean intelligence (a creation of U.S. military intelligence) blamed the enfeebled Stalinist regime in North Korea for a series of cyber attacks on the U.S. government and commercial websites. As numerous observers have noted since the attacks, it is unlikely North Korea was behind the attacks. "Some analysts have questioned the North's involvement, saying it may be the work of industrial spies or pranksters," reports Reuters.

Instead of North Korea, the Korea Communications Commission now claims the original attacks were based in Germany, Austria, Georgia, the United States and South Korea. The location of the hackers behind the attacks is still unknown, according to the KCC.

The cyber attacks will now enter a new phase by attacking personal computers and wiping out hard disks, South Korea claims. South Korean web security firm Ahnlab, which has closely examined the attacks, said the new phase would target data on tens of thousands of infected personal computers. Ahnlab sells antivirus software, online security solutions, and network security appliances such as firewalls.

The new alleged threat and accompanying propaganda comes as Senate Commerce Chairman John (Jay) Rockefeller prepares for a July committee vote on cybersecurity legislation he introduced in April with Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine. One of the bill's most controversial provisions would give the president the power to effectively shut off the Internet during a cyber crisis similar to the one now threatening PCs, according to South Korea and its U.S. created intelligence agency.

Isolation, fines for swine flu law breaches

People who defy medical health officers' beefed-up swine-flu isolation powers risk being fined and forcibly detained.

The Government on Monday added swine flu to the list of notifiable diseases.

This allows people who have been in contact with patients who have swine flu to be compulsorily isolated at home, and pupils and teachers who are patients or contacts to be excluded from schools.

These measures are in addition to the general powers of medical officers of health under the Health Act 1956 to isolate people considered at risk of spreading swine flu.

A person who disobeys medical officers' orders faces a $500 fine, plus $50 for each further day of non-compliance.

But it is more likely the officer would invoke the power in section 79 (4) of the act to "detain him, by force if necessary".

Anyone who leaves their specified place of isolation is liable to be "arrested by any officer of the Ministry of Health or by any member of the staff of the hospital or other place of isolation or by any constable, without warrant" and taken to the place of isolation.

As well, medical officers of health gain much wider powers - such as restricting travel, closing businesses and banning meetings - if the Prime Minister issues an epidemic notice, the Minister of Health gives authority or a state of emergency is declared.

Then the penalty for disobeying a medical officer of health's directions rises to a maximum of six months' jail and a fine up to $4000.

The director of public health, Dr Mark Jacobs, said yesterday the Health Ministry's preference was voluntarily compliance and that was working well.

"If we had a problem with that, our fall-back wouldn't be to take them to court and fine them. It would be to enforce isolation, because the purpose of this is public health.

"Public health is not served by fining them."

The preference was to isolate people at home, or at hospital if necessary, he said.

Asked if police cells could be used, he said it was "unlikely but is in theory a possibility."

And he said it was unlikely the powers triggered by ministerial order or emergency declaration would be needed, even if swine flu - influenza, A (H1N1) - spread widely.

It has been contained in New Zealand; the tally of confirmed cased yesterday was 17.

Worldwide, more than 25,000 cases, including 139 deaths, have been reported. Australia's total has passed 1200 cases, mostly in Victoria, and is rising rapidly.

A group of Gisborne Boys' High school students who travelled home from a school trip to Brisbane on Sunday were yesterday isolated at school for the day.

Those with flu symptoms were given Tamiflu and asked to stay at home in isolation. The group includes 16 students, two teachers and a parent.

$50 for every day of continued refusal.

Detention by force if necessary.

Swine Flu? geez, i knew this horseshit was coming a long time ago, but again the label of Conspiracy Theory was set by the critics.

Really, lets look at what 'flu-like symptoms' really can be defined as, because it allows an abuse of power to be honest.
One report even confirmed this;

"They were treated and are being kept in isolation at a secret location."
Treated with what? TamiFlu? Yeah right!

Looking back at the Epidemic Preparedness Bill, here's a refresh on what even less power and freedom you have as a person.



Clause 19 amends sect.71 of the Health Act 1956 to allow Medical Officers with clear power to requisition land, building, food, drink, clothing, bedding, tents, and vechiles private or public.

This also allow under Sect.71a to allow police officers to use force if neccessary to assist Medical Officers performing powers under any sections under sect 70 or 71a.

This also includes police allowing to prevent people from any obstruction or hindering to this.

Subsection (2) allow police to enter any land, building, vechile, aircraft or ship, also to stop, inspect it or anything on it or in it.

A minimum of 6 months prison or $4000 fine or both is deemed onto any person violating this or refusing to comply with this.

G20 - Terror Alert elevated in the U.K - Bankers told to dress down

LONDON - Thousands of extra police are patrolling London's streets ahead of tonight's expected start of G20 summit protests amid fears that terrorists could capitalise on the presence of tens of thousands of unruly protesters to launch an attack.

The convergence of the two threats comes as Britain is already on "severe" alert, meaning security officials believe an attack is highly likely.

Bankers are being warned to dress casually to deflect populist anger and luxury hotels are securing their perimeters.

Concern is particularly high because the last major summit in Britain - the G8 meeting in July 2005 at Gleneagles - was marked by suicide attacks on London's transit network that killed 52 people.

"We will be challenged. We will be stretched," said Simon O'Brien, a police commander responsible for the 7.2 million ($18 million) operation to secure the city.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators plan four days of protests at sites across London, threatening to overwhelm police and potentially leave the capital more vulnerable.

The Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, said that while no specific plot against the G20 summit had been identified, terrorists could strike "without warning at any time".

Michael Clarke, head of the Royal United Services Institute think-tank, said small terrorist groups might use the cover of protests by environmentalists, antiwar activists and unions to mount an attack.

"The protests will cause uncertainty and chaos, and if they turn violent could complicate the lives of those police and security service staff who are looking for terrorists," said Clarke, who sits on the Government's National Security Forum advisory panel.

Police arrested five people in Plymouth yesterday under terrorism laws and recovered replica weapons, fireworks and activist material. Officers are investigating whether they planned to target the summit.

The investigation was sparked after a 25-year-old man was charged with spraying graffiti on a wall in Plymouth city centre, prompting officers to search his flat. They discovered a replica Kalashnikov assault rifle and several minor explosive devices made from fireworks.

About 5000 police - some armed with Tasers - will guard London, and an extra 35,000 will be on standby for the summit tomorrow night NZT. Some will be at the summit venue in London's Docklands, with others protecting posh hotels and the sleek glass towers of the financial district.

In the light of November's seaborne attack on Mumbai, India's financial centre, extra patrol boats will guard the Thames, and police frogmen will scour the river for floating bombs.

Police will tap London's network of 10,000 CCTV cameras to monitor protests, while an Army special forces unit will be on alert to respond.

Pepe Egger, a senior security analyst at Exclusive Analysis Ltd, said banks and hotels had prepared for attempted raids or sieges.

Unlike previous summits, most protests in London would be away from the actual meeting venue at the ExCel centre, he said.

"The interesting thing is that the protesters are unlikely to target the G20 delegates, their anger is not directed at the G20 itself. They will target the banks and financial district."

Anger at bankers is high in both Britain and the United States, where some of the bailout money for stricken banks was spent on staff bonuses.

Banks have told staff to dress in casual clothes today and tomorrow, to forgo cigarette breaks outside and cancel all but their most critical meetings.

"I'm pretty worried," said Luke Keyser, a 28-year-old at the Royal Bank of Scotland. "We've already been told to dress down. If we want to, we can work from home."

People living near the G20 venue in Canning Town have been advised to carry photo IDs to ensure they can pass through police roadblocks and get home.

To summarize...
The main point was the 2011 World Cup plan by the elite was predicted by me three years back after much research and for the last two-three years more and more armed forces have been training with specialist exercises in helicopters and this all started with me digging up about Bird Flu as it just sounds ridiculous by name. Clare Swinney from Uncensored Magazine can even state in late 2005 i SMS'd her to look up at the sky for black helicopters in Northland close to where i was at the time monitoring this activity of SAS and specialist military like police (STG like) and she was not far away also. As for bird flu in N.Z I wanted to debunk it basically as rubbish as first thoughts were, a human contracting a deadly flu virus by bird or airborn? bullshit! Thing being this can only be man-made with alot of money and resources, only which PHARMA's and Govt could be possible of doing as it needs modification, enhancement and genetics manipulation. On the side of military big business, we host such places in NZ like Waihopai, Tangimoana, Tennex, HeliCorp and Rakon as examples of some.

Army heads are calling for recruits from the armed forces to man an anti-terror squad responsible for domestic security.

A defence source last night said the recruitment drive was prompted by "a surge in the global war on terrorism".

The unit would also be responsible for dealing with any security threats at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

More than 60,000 overseas visitors are expected for the six-week tournament in September and October 2011.

Twenty countries will participate in the 48-game event, the third largest international sports event in the world.

An advertisement in this month's Army News said "international developments" had heightened the need for "an effective on call counter-terrorist capability" in New Zealand.

Army, Navy and Air Force personnel are encouraged to join the group, which is known as the Counter Terrorist Tactical Assault Group.

Another army source said recruits had been called for on previous occasions.

In 2006, it was reported the CTTAG was formed after the SAS struggled to recruit enough personnel to cover an increasing international workload and fulfil its counter-terrorist role at home.

CTTAG training was tough but, unlike the SAS, did not have an emphasis on "breaking in" an individual.

Instead, the unit focuses on building teamwork, improving shooting skills and helping squad members overcoming phobias such as fear of heights.

Terrorist attacks such as that on the Sri Lanken cricket team in Pakistan this month were evidence of the need for security at large-scale sports events, the source said.

The security bill for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, next year is expected to be hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Army News advertisement said it was intended the New Zealand SAS group "will continue to deliver the current range of Special Forces capabilities, [and] an enhanced Counter Terrorist Tactical Assault Group will provide the critical domestic counter terrorist role for the New Zealand Defence Force".

The Officials Committee for Domestic and External Security Co-ordination currently deals with terrorism threats in New Zealand and the Police Commissioner is accountable for the operational response to threats to national security.

The CTTAG will work with existing anti-terrorist organisations including police groups such as the special tactics groups, armed offender squads, diplomatic protection squad and specialist search group.

HISTORY is littered with commentaries by business, world leaders and academics on how the banking system is set up and what it was designed to do and has been doing ever since its creation.

It is fair to say that the masses may never know the real business of foreign banking. And yet, it is on the back of the masses that banks carry their successes in terms of profitability, year after year after year.

They make their money in a number of ways, including but not limited to charging phenomenal interest rates. In return they pay hardly anything to depositors.

Their practices border on daylight robbery – practices sanctioned by competent authorities and the legal system in every country.

Most, if not all, qualify for insolvency if they were to uphold the same rules imposed on ordinary folks.
But we will never know why they are allowed to continue in business.

And the reason we will never know about what banks do with your money [I don’t have any] is clear. No one in his right mind broadcasts the secrets of his success.

But history has been kind, leaving important indicators on the secrecy under which banks operate.
Many have left the door to banks ajar for those who care to peep in. People like Henry Ford, the man whose family name is synonymous with the United States auto industry.

Or Reginald McKenna, who was Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chairman of the Board of the Midland Bank between 1915 – 1916.

Henry Ford, for example, once said of banks in the United States:
“It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning”.

Mr. McKenna said:
“I am afraid the ordinary citizen will not like to be told that the banks can, and do, create money … Those who create and issue money and credit direct the policies of government and hold in the hollow of their hands the destiny of the people”.

As indicated in this column last week, these are some of the issues I wish to discuss this week in the hope of enlightening us to the reality.

For example, given the practices by the banks, what do we as a nation need to do?
More work and less talking. Any meaningful intervention in this murky area, however, has to be spearheaded by Government and its monetary policy.

It is in this light that one, Kelvyn Alp, a New Zealander, has provided the Government a “must read” document titled, Solomon Islands Economic Reform – Monetary System and Taxation.

Copies were widely distributed to Members of Parliament, particularly Government Ministers and Members of Government Caucus last year. It was provided as a Parliamentary Discussion Document.
The 36-page document was dated 8th November 2008.

It is a ‘must read’ if one were to understand the banking system here, the monetary system and taxation and what is urgently required to deal with these problematic areas.

In the preamble, Alp says the document “is an urgent reminder of the need to look beyond the established and ultimately flawed economic theories that have caused such devastation to nations the world over”.

“All too often there are those that are ever ready to give advice to developing nations like Solomon Islands, while at the same time, concealing the true nature and intent of that advice. Change will never come from systems that have been proven to fail time and time again.

“In this document, I shall deal with the truth and facts only,” he said.

Alp argued that many have studied and received degrees for subjects covered in the document, “yet have never comprehended the underlying mechanics of those lessons and how they relate to real-world economies”.
He urged readers to be willing to put the interests of the people and nation above their own.

“This must be done despite the constant pressure being applied by some to retain the status-quo and further have you implement disastrous policies that will place you, your family and the nation, in a continuous position of servitude,” the former military man turned businessman said.

An avid reader of a wide range of subjects, I must say I am fascinated by the clarity and indeed the message being conveyed in this document.

The more I read this revolutionary document, the more I want to be out there doing something. The feeling I have experienced will only be felt if one’s passionate about what needs to be done and fast.

For example, how do you feel about phrases such as “today’s money [is] created by private interests for private profit”.

Alp quoted Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a banker who in 1790 said and I quote: “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes its laws”.

Many will probably recall reading somewhere that Rothschild was one of the founding fathers of what we know today as America’s Federal Reserve, the equivalent of our Central Bank.

The US Federal Reserve was never a Government institution. It’s an invention by businessmen who want to control the world’s wealth. And they do today. Only six per cent of the world’s population control today’s wealth.

Commercial banking, including those in Solomon Islands are merely an extension of the greed that has now thrown the global financial economy into tailspin.

Next week, I’ll take you through the banking system, the monetary reform and the many faces of money that banks “sell” us – faces fully disguised in deception and falsehood.

As the new U.S. administration prepares to take office amid grave financial and international crises, it may seem counterintuitive to argue that the very unsettled nature of the international system generates a unique opportunity for creative diplomacy.

That opportunity involves a seeming contradiction. On one level, the financial collapse represents a major blow to the standing of the United States. While American political judgments have often proved controversial, the American prescription for a world financial order has generally been unchallenged. Now disillusionment with the United States' management of it is widespread.

At the same time, the magnitude of the debacle makes it impossible for the rest of the world to shelter any longer behind American predominance or American failings.

Every country will have to reassess its own contribution to the prevailing crisis. Each will seek to make itself independent, to the greatest possible degree, of the conditions that produced the collapse; at the same time, each will be obliged to face the reality that its dilemmas can be mastered only by common action.

Even the most affluent countries will confront shrinking resources. Each will have to redefine its national priorities. An international order will emerge if a system of compatible priorities comes into being. It will fragment disastrously if the various priorities cannot be reconciled.

The nadir of the existing international financial system coincides with simultaneous political crises around the globe. Never have so many transformations occurred at the same time in so many different parts of the world and been made globally accessible via instantaneous communication. The alternative to a new international order is chaos.

The financial and political crises are, in fact, closely related partly because, during the period of economic exuberance, a gap had opened up between the economic and the political organization of the world.

The economic world has been globalized. Its institutions have a global reach and have operated by maxims that assumed a self-regulating global market.

The financial collapse exposed the mirage. It made evident the absence of global institutions to cushion the shock and to reverse the trend. Inevitably, when the affected publics turned to their national political institutions, these were driven principally by domestic politics, not considerations of world order.

Every major country has attempted to solve its immediate problems essentially on its own and to defer common action to a later, less crisis-driven point. So-called rescue packages have emerged on a piecemeal national basis, generally by substituting seemingly unlimited governmental credit for the domestic credit that produced the debacle in the first place - so far without more than stemming incipient panic.

International order will not come about either in the political or economic field until there emerge general rules toward which countries can orient themselves.

In the end, the political and economic systems can be harmonized in only one of two ways: by creating an international political regulatory system with the same reach as that of the economic world; or by shrinking the economic units to a size manageable by existing political structures, which is likely to lead to a new mercantilism, perhaps of regional units.

A new Bretton Woods-kind of global agreement is by far the preferable outcome. America's role in this enterprise will be decisive. Paradoxically, American influence will be great in proportion to the modesty in our conduct; we need to modify the righteousness that has characterized too many American attitudes, especially since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

That seminal event and the subsequent period of nearly uninterrupted global growth induced too many to equate world order with the acceptance of American designs, including our domestic preferences.

The result was a certain inherent unilateralism - the standard complaint of European critics - or else an insistent kind of consultation by which nations were invited to prove their fitness to enter the international system by conforming to American prescriptions.

Not since the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy half a century ago has a new administration come into office with such a reservoir of expectations. It is unprecedented that all the principal actors on the world stage are avowing their desire to undertake the transformations imposed on them by the world crisis in collaboration with the United States.

The extraordinary impact of the president-elect on the imagination of humanity is an important element in shaping a new world order. But it defines an opportunity, not a policy.

The ultimate challenge is to shape the common concern of most countries and all major ones regarding the economic crisis, together with a common fear of jihadist terrorism, into a common strategy reinforced by the realization that the new issues like proliferation, energy and climate change permit no national or regional solution.


The new administration could make no worse mistake than to rest on its initial popularity. The cooperative mood of the moment needs to be channeled into a grand strategy going beyond the controversies of the recent past.

The charge of American unilateralism has some basis in fact; it also has become an alibi for a key European difference with America: that the United States still conducts itself as a national state capable of asking its people for sacrifices for the sake of the future, while Europe, suspended between abandoning its national framework and a yet-to-be-reached political substitute, finds it much harder to defer present benefits.

Hence its concentration on soft power. Most Atlantic controversies have been substantive and only marginally procedural; there would have been conflict no matter how intense the consultation. The Atlantic partnership will depend much more on common policies than agreed procedures.

The role of China in a new world order is equally crucial. A relationship that started on both sides as essentially a strategic design to constrain a common adversary has evolved over the decades into a pillar of the international system.

China made possible the American consumption splurge by buying American debt; America helped the modernization and reform of the Chinese economy by opening its markets to Chinese goods.

Both sides overestimated the durability of this arrangement. But while it lasted, it sustained unprecedented global growth. It mitigated as well the concerns over China's role once China emerged in full force as a fellow superpower. A consensus had developed according to which adversarial relations between these pillars of the international system would destroy much that had been achieved and benefit no one. That conviction needs to be preserved and reinforced.

Each side of the Pacific needs the cooperation of the other in addressing the consequences of the financial crisis. Now that the global financial collapse has devastated Chinese export markets, China is emphasizing infrastructure development and domestic consumption.

It will not be easy to shift gears rapidly, and the Chinese growth rate may fall temporarily below the 7.5 percent that Chinese experts have always defined as the line that challenges political stability. America needs Chinese cooperation to address its current account imbalance and to prevent its exploding deficits from sparking a devastating inflation.

What kind of global economic order arises will depend importantly on how China and America deal with each other over the next few years. A frustrated China may take another look at an exclusive regional Asian structure, for which the nucleus already exists in the Asean-plus-three concept.

At the same time, if protectionism grows in America or if China comes to be seen as a long-term adversary, a self-fulfilling prophecy may blight the prospects of global order.

Such a return to mercantilism and 19th-century diplomacy would divide the world into competing regional units with dangerous long-term consequences.

The Sino-American relationship needs to be taken to a new level. The current crisis can be overcome only by developing a sense of common purpose. Such issues as proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, energy and the environment demand strengthened political ties between China and the United States.

This generation of leaders has the opportunity to shape trans-Pacific relations into a design for a common destiny, much as was done with trans-Atlantic relations in the immediate postwar period - except that the challenges now are more political and economic than military.

Such a vision must embrace as well such countries as Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, whether as part of trans-Pacific structures or, in regional arrangements, dealing with special subjects as energy, proliferation and the environment.

The complexity of the emerging world requires from America a more historical approach than the insistence that every problem has a final solution expressible in programs with specific time limits not infrequently geared to our political process.

We must learn to operate within the attainable and be prepared to pursue ultimate ends by the accumulation of nuance.

An international order can be permanent only if its participants have a share not only in building but also in securing it. In this manner, America and its potential partners have a unique opportunity to transform a moment of crisis into a vision of hope.

Hamas has expressed its political stances and explained its views in a series of documents published since its founding.

According to one translation[specify], the 1988 Hamas Covenant (or Charter) states that the organization's goal is to "raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine, for under the wing of Islam followers of all religions can coexist in security and safety where their lives, possessions and rights are concerned." It further asserts that "The Islamic Resistance Movement is a humanistic movement. It takes care of human rights and is guided by Islamic tolerance when dealing with the followers of other religions. It does not antagonize anyone of them except if it is antagonized by it or stands in its way to hamper its moves and waste its efforts. Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam. Past and present history are the best witness to that."

The thirty-six articles of the Covenant detail the movement's Islamist beliefs regarding the primacy of Islam in all aspects of life. The Covenant identifies Hamas as the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine and considers its members to be Muslims who "fear God and raise the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors." Hamas describes resisting and quelling the enemy as the individual duty of every Muslim and prescribes vigilant roles for all members of society; including men and women, professionals, scientists and students. The enemy is defined primarily in terms of antisemitic conspiracy theories of world Jewish domination.[66]

In several places, the Charter compares Israeli treatment of Palestinians to the actions of the Nazis. For example Israel is described as "a vicious enemy which acts in a way similar to Nazism, making no differentiation between man and woman, between children and old people" and predicts that the "Zionist Nazi activities against our people will not last for long."

The Charter outlines the organization's position on various issues, including social and economic development and ideological influences, education, as well as its position regarding Israel. Amongst many other things, it reiterates the group's rejection of the principle of coexistence with Zionism, which it defines as a danger not just to Palestinians, but to all Arab states. While primarily focusing on what it calls the "Zionist invasion" of Palestine as the cause of conflict, in places the Charter asserts that Zionism was able to achieve its ends due to the activities of secret organizations such as Freemasons and cites as an example the ability of Zionists to obtain the Balfour Declaration of 1917 (or see the end of this post). The Charter asserts that through shrewd manipulation of imperial countries and secret societies, Zionists were behind a wide range of events and disasters going as far back in history as the French Revolution and that "There is no war going on anywhere, without having their finger in it." The Charter also selectively quotes Islamic religious texts to provide justification for fighting against and killing Jews.

A memorandum prepared by the group's political bureau in the 1990s at the request of western diplomats and published in a book by Azzam Tamimi stated that Hamas is "a Palestinian national liberation movement that struggles for the liberation of the Palestinian occupied territories and for the recognition of Palestinian legitimate rights." Hamas, the document stated, "regards itself as an extension of an old tradition that goes back to the early 20th century struggle against British and Zionist colonialism in Palestine." The memorandum notes that in principle Hamas does not endorse targeting civilians, but argues that attacks which did so represented "an exception necessitated by Israel's insistence on targeting Palestinian civilians and by Israel's refusal to agree to an understanding prohibiting the killing of civilians on both sides comparable to the one reached between Israel and Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon."[67] Even in the 1990s, according to this memorandum, the organization foresaw the day when "dialogue" between itself and Israel would be possible, but warned that "The prospect of the movement initiating, or accepting dialogue with Israel is nonexistent at present because of the skewed balance of power between the Palestinians and the Israelis. In Sheikh Yassin's words: 'There can be no dialogue between a party that is strong and oppressive and another that is weak and oppressed. There can be no dialogue except after the end of oppression.'"

The credit crisis has been given many excuses, ranging from too many people spending beyond there means, to investments gone wrong and even failed trade agreements.

Put simply, it's the banks who loaned the credit (not money) and allowed it to that which could be given the exmaple of a drug addict to credit, to tick-up credit with the dodgy dealing bank, to get there next fix so someone could get a plasma, mortgage and car etc which the bank knows most of there applicants could not afford to pay back.

I mean an example is that most university students who make about $150 a week in N.Z from student allowance living costs, getting the bank saying here's a credit card for $5000, then another bank doing the same, then a finance company allowing around $2000 loaned, possibly more, so a total of $12,000 debt from one student. Did the bank assess this thinking the student would become a doctor or lawyer who could repay this? No, because most would take a part time job afterwards in some dodgy fast food place or call centre close to minimum wage in order to survive, and in turn these places hire and fire quicker than they over sales most of the time. They may end up at a WINZ office, and WINZ will push them onto anything other than unemployment to keep the unemployment benefit numbers down, so someone could then be falsifying a mental illness and be drugged up on med's to get by on direction from the government. I have interviewed many people like this or they pass uni and go oversea's only to come back not long after in a worse case and paying back IRD so much money and still the banks on the amount of thin air credit loaned and then interest to kill there wages.

This is the banks faults, its the big companies making a killing literally in some cases like weapons manufacturers, fast food outlets, oil companies and so on who market more and more there products and services which are made by P.R to look essential and con people into debt by credit.

Banks work from other deposits normal people make in good faith thinking 'we trust our bank', banks should be an optional service, not compulsory for your wages to be done as a commercial transaction, they (the banks) gain interest on the money in balance in there banks and loan out credit which is not based of there own books, but these deposits as some do know this harsh truth.

It's much the same with the reserve bank it has no real money but now will based on bonds, credit issued in the form of paper bills printed to the crown then passed to us. The national debt as its called.

To make the elite crash happen quicker everyone could withdraw all there money, buy a safe and store there own money and invest in gold, but remember last time people did this, the U.S government issued prohibition on gold, they did much the same on alcohol and tobacco. The N.Z government would likely follow, hence the guaranteed deposit scheme hoo-haa that most banker controlled states and nations of the western world are doing and have done.

Kiwibank currently is running somewhat anti-aussie-bank ad's, well Kiwibank is in debt if you look at logically, its government owned, which i would support nationalization as opposed to privatization of capitialist foreign powers,but anyway the crown owes the national debt, the citizens and persons who are registered with stock certificates as a security interest (birth certificates) vest debt based on liability to pay such things like compulsory taxes and fee's, foreign examples include insurances.

This in turn gives people less wealth and more wealth in the hands of the banks and governments as these are processed in N.Z prior to clearance, i mean tax is deducted before you can withdraw your pay, as is the case via PAYE, student loans, kiwisaver, ACC levies, other taxes, child support, court fines and possibly more examples. So the individual has alot less than what starts off, it puts wealth again to clarify out of the hands of the worker. Then to note this worker pays his or her bills and is expected to live, at this point they could be able to afford other things but if not a life on credit is led by a large flock of sheep in example. No one ever believed someone cried wolf, oops i mean banks.

You know, the "AMERO" . . . . the new currency that is going to replace the US Dollar, The Canadian Dollar and the Mexican Peso? Yea, the new currency that all three governments claim doesn't exist. . . . I have it. Here's what a 50 Amero note looks like:

In September, 2007 - over a full year ago - I first broke the story about AMERO coins being minted secretly at the Denver Mint. After that story ran, the Denver Mint announced on its web site that they were closing public tours of the Mint for 10 - 14 days in order to make renovations to the tourist area of the mint.

My sources inside the Mint, however, reported Treasury officials were outraged that someone had leaked info about the AMERO to me and they closed the Denver Mint to the public so as to secretly move the AMEROS out of the Mint to prevent further leaks.

In October, 2008, I received word that the U.S. government shipped 800 Billion AMEROS to the China development bank. I did a story on that (here) and obtained an actual AMERO coin from that shipment!

I placed a video of the coin on YouTube, showing the coin and explaining that there is a deliberate effort underway at the highest levels of our government to intentionally exhaust the dollar as a currency. Over 600,000 people worldwide watched that video.

Two days ago, YouTube/Google notified me that my video had been deleted and my account permanently closed at the request of the United States Treasury Department. The Treasury department told YouTube/Google that my video was "destabilizing the U.S. Dollar and was thus a threat to national security."

Here we are, just two days later and my sources have once again come through; this time with proof the government is secretly printing new AMERO paper currency.

Not a single American citizen has been officially asked if they want a new currency. Not a single member of Congress has voted on authorizing a new currency. Yet a new currency is already being printed and quietly distributed around the world. This is being done without the consent of the American people, without a vote by Congress and has been intentionally covered up by every official who has been questioned about it.

The REASON they are creating a new currency has to do with how they plan to get rid of our national debt. On October 16, 2008, the "Global-Europe Anticipation Bulletin" told its subscribers that the present U.S. Dollar will be demonetized (it won't be "money" anymore) and a new currency imposed. "Old dollars" will be devalued by ninety percent (90%).

Think about that for a moment. A 90% devaluation. That means checking accounts, savings accounts, IRA's 401-K's, Pension plans, Certificates of Deposit. . . . are all worth ninety percent LESS than previously.

This AMERO currency will allow the government to literally grab 90% of all our life savings and owe 90% less than they presently do in one fell swoop! They get out of debt and the rest of us are left totally destitute. Broke. Busted. Poor. Helpless.

I believe the people perpetrating this secret currency change are in for personal visits of a violent nature. I think there are folks out here in real America who will not take kindly to having been deliberately lied-to.

I believe my fellow Americans might -- just might -- decide it is time to . . . . . "discipline". . . . . the public officials who have undertaken this outrage without our consent.

It's a tough thing to have to physically discipline a mis-behaving adult, but I say now, I'm up for doing just that.

There are officials in this country who deserve to get the shit kicked out of them and I really look forward to having the chance to do it. If they think their puny little Federal Reserve Police force can do anything about it, they're sadly mistaken.

A Master Plan For China To Bail Out America

The financial rescue plan passed by the US Congress is viewed as flawed but necessary to head off panic in financial markets and loss of confidence in the economy. It seems a holding operation, a Plan C or D that might need augmentation via a Plan A.

A vital component of a Plan A is likely to be additional money. For one thing, there is suspicion that the amount of toxic assets is considerably greater than the rescue plan provides for. For another, more money may be required to address the problem in the housing market by providing relief to subprime and marginal borrowers. And finally, further fiscal stimulus could become necessary if recessionary forces take hold.

Where will this additional money – perhaps as much as another $500bn – come from? The US taxpayer is wary. Joe Six-Pack has ponied up a lot already, and done so with no great confidence that the money was for a worthwhile cause or that it will be well spent.

Enter China. Ken Rogoff of Harvard cheekily characterised the vast Chinese accumulation of US Treasury bonds over the past five years as the biggest foreign assistance programme in history. Why not push that further? Here is a thought experiment.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said political leaders are discussing the idea of closing the world's financial markets while they "rewrite the rules of international finance."

"The idea of suspending the markets for the time it takes to rewrite the rules is being discussed," Berlusconi said today after a Cabinet meeting in Naples, Italy. A solution to the financial crisis "can't just be for one country, or even just for Europe, but global."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell as much 8.1 percent in early trading and pared most of those losses after Berlusconi's remarks. The Dow was down 0.5 percent to 8540.52 at 10:10 in New York.

Group of Seven finance ministers and central bankers are meeting in Washington today, and will stay in town for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings this weekend. European Union leaders may gather in Paris on Oct. 12, three days before a scheduled summit in Brussels, Berlusconi said today, while Group of Eight leaders may hold a meeting on the crisis "in coming days," he said.

Berlusconi didn't give any details about what kind of rules leaders were looking to change, except to say that leaders are "talking about a new Bretton Woods."

The crashing stock market has given its verdict. The financial rescue plan currently being implemented by the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve System will fail to revitalize the producing economy, even with continued interest rate cuts. This is because the banking system is essentially a supply-side, trickle-down mechanism with a currency based on a pyramid of bank lending and debt. All the current plans being suggested by economists and others to save the financial system by varying degrees of tinkering are useless. Similarly useless is the pumping in of credit or liquidity by Treasury or the Federal Reserve because it is no more than new debt to roll over old debt.

The cause of the financial failure is that the producing and consumer economy is "maxed out" and is unable to repay existing loans much less new ones. This is because purchasing power in the U.S. has collapsed.

Purchasing power has collapsed not only because we have outsourced our industry abroad and allowed our infrastructure to crumble, but also because of structural defects identified decades ago by C.H. Douglas and John Maynard Keynes. These defects occur due to the need for retained earnings (i.e. savings) to overcome the Law of Diminishing Returns. This leads to insufficient aggregate demand; i.e., the gap between prices and purchasing power that is endemic in an industrial economy.

The problem is not the collapse of the stock market which simply reflects the deflation of the bubble economy. The problem is the oncoming recession/depression caused by the absence of an economic engine to generate new producing power.

Keynesian plans for top-down creation of jobs by government deficit spending has never worked and has always ended in an attempt by the government to inflate its way out of debt. Everything being suggested by the Obama/McCain campaigns is based on the failed Keynesian formula.

An entirely new paradigm is needed. This can be provided through dividend-based economics like the Alaska Permanent Fund, the 2008 tax rebate stimulus, and the basic income guarantee (negative income tax) discussed during the 1960s and 1970s.

Following is the "Cook Plan":

1. Non-taxable vouchers should be issued at the rate of $1,000 per month per adult and $500 per month per child which may be used for food, housing, fuel, communications media, utilities, and educational services provided at outlets within the U.S. Distribution of vouchers may be delegated to state and local governments.

2. Vouchers will be deposited by service providers and vendors only in a new network of local chartered savings banks—one for each county in the U.S. Deposits will be made to the bank in the county of the local point-of-sale.

3. Banks will lend locally at zero-percent interest using voucher deposits as capitalization. The banks may create loans at a 1:10 reserve ratio with borrowers paying administrative fees only. Borrowers must provide a 20% down payment as collateral or purchase default insurance at 2% of the loan principal.

4. Lending will be made only to business entities, including family or commercial farms, operating from an established location within the county.

This system will create a grassroots "bottom-up" economic infrastructure to parallel the "top-down" Federal Reserve System which is collapsing. Transfers between local savings banks and the banks of the Federal Reserve System will be denominated in U.S. dollars with vouchers redeemed within the banking system.

The system could be implemented within a matter of weeks through seed-money provided by the federal government. It could be replicated by any other nation.

It is requested that readers give this plan the widest possible distribution.

China has been incubating for hundreds of years being prepared for its role as a key player in these times we are now experiencing. I was told by an insider many years ago to watch for the emergence of China as an economic and military power because then the action would really start.

Well, here we are.

China's 'economic miracle', based on slave labour that undercuts production costs across the world, has produced a mountain of money which has been used to buy foreign debt. It holds in excess of one trillion dollars worth of US Treasury bonds (debt) and debt of the US government mortgage lenders, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, recently saved from collapse by political intervention.

But even this trillion dollars doesn't nearly tell the full story because it doesn't include Chinese investment in private US corporations and the use by the Chinese government of third parties to hide the extent of its holdings.

Put it all together and China is gaining ever more control of the US economy and it can use this power to destroy what is left of the American financial system. If it sells its massive dollar holdings the value of the 'mighty dollar' will plummet and if its debt is not repaid it can claim American assets, yes government assets, just as a bank forecloses on your house if you don't make the payments.

And the United States is now ten trillion dollars in debt with more being added by the minute. The 'superpower' is essentially bankrupt and at the mercy of its overseas creditors - not least China.

Given that the plan is for a war involving North America, Europe, Russia and China this takes on even greater significance, as does the involvement in the trillion-dollar (open chequebook) 'bail out' of US Treasury Secretary Henry 'Hank' Paulson.

Lets Look Back At Economics 101, things to note, ask yourself with so-called policy and rules of whatever theory of economics aside to start with;

Are prices on goods worth more because they're...

A) rare in supply, B) high demand for profitability or C) so-called market controlled increases set in policy of some nature?

Then think and ask, is the actual value of paper money worth alot less, thus these so called bills or notes are needed more of to acquire the power to purchase something with less of these objects called bills or notes, paper money.

Not known widely and not know whether fact or not, some well few get told the Reserve (of most nations) Bank prints more money when we spend more of it, example Christmas time and buying gifts, at this time some businesses put prices right up for large profit on each item purchased whereas others lower prices to acquire more items purchased of there business due to that there lower price beats the competitors prices which are higher. At this time also, such gifts are increased to retails and sales stores, thus the supply appears to have increased based on demand, however what is not known to only a few is that the quantity in supply may always be the same but still with the producer or in storage out the back of a store, thus at Christmas the special on sale signs comes out and so do more products and stalls etc.
Conclusion...
Supply and Demand and a free-market, ha, not always guaranteed. Private Companies: Care of profit over people always, privatization and central banks not owned by there own people teach us the lessons of ultimate loss.

7 International Bankers & Co. 'Credit Crisis' Meeting

International Bankers from the world's 7 richest nations, meeting in Washington this morning, are expected to include a multi-trillion-dollar bailout plan as part of their response to the credit crunch.

The Group of Seven meeting follows the worst day of the worst week of the international financial crisis, in which the market turmoil afflicting America and Europecascaded into Asia and Australia.

At one point Japan's Nikkei index was down 11 per cent, and Australia's All Ordinaries closed down 8.2 per cent.

New Zealand's NZX50 closed almost 5 per cent down yesterday, its biggest one-day loss since 1987.

In the past week, $4 billion has been wiped off the value of companies listed on the local stock exchange.

The bad news continued to flow late last night (NZ time) as Europe's markets opened.

London's FTSE 100 index crashed almost 10 per cent as soon as it opened, but picked up to be down 7.4 per cent after four hours of trading.

Germany's DAX was down 9 per cent and France's CAC-40 lost 8.4 per cent.

In Vienna, the stock exchange was suspended until midday after stocks tumbled 10 per cent at the morning's opening bell, and in Russia the MICEX and RTS exchanges suspended trading until further notice under orders from financial regulators.

Today's Washington meeting will bring together finance ministers and central bankers from the United States, Germany, Japan, France, Britain, Italy and Canada for some collective thinking on the credit crunch and crashing stocks.

They are to be joined by counterparts from other nations, including Australia, Brazil, Russia, India and China, for a gathering of the expanded G20 group.

Also this weekend, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will be holding annual meetings.

Sources say Japan will propose an IMF loan scheme to give countries in financial crisis access to the trillions of dollars in reserves held by Asian and Middle Eastern governments.

Japan and China between them have US$2.8 trillion in reserves, and although Japan's market has been hit by selling, both countries have been relative oases of calm in a world financial crisis that has destroyed banks from Wall Street to Iceland, frozen money markets and drained capital from emerging markets.

Under the plan, the IMF would ask the country that was to receive the money to draw up a plan for revitalising its financial sector, including writing off its bad assets.

Today's meeting comes at the end of another horror week on money markets.

Japan's Nikkei stock average fell 9.6 per cent yesterday in its biggest one-day loss since the 1987 stock market crash.

The Nikkei, which has fallen for seven consecutive days, lost 24 per cent on the week, more than twice as much as in the week of the 1987 stock market crash. It has lost 46 per cent this year.

Things were little better in Australia, where market watchers called yesterday's trading "Black Friday".

The S&P/ASX200 index fell 8.34 per cent, or 360.2 points, to close at 3960.7, its biggest one-day percentage loss.

The wider All Ordinaries index tumbled 8.2 per cent in its biggest loss for 21 years. Yesterday's session wiped A$106 billion (nearly $117 billion) from the value of stocks.

But the BNZ saw a silver lining to the black cloud of international economic turmoil, saying it could result in falling prices, a reduction in inflation and cheaper petrol.

The bank said declining energy, commodity and oil prices showed inflationary prices had started to moderate in many countries.

"The recent intensification of the financial crisis has augmented the downside risks to growth and thus has diminished further the upside risks to price stability," its forecast predicted.

"Some easing of global monetary conditions is therefore warranted."

This would result in a noticeable fall in New Zealand's inflation over the next one or two years.

"The immediate test of this will be the producers price index and consumer price index figures from around the globe," the BNZ said.

"We anticipate some big monthly drops, which will bring headline annual rates down sharply."

American crude oil futures fell more than US$4 a barrel yesterday as fears that market turmoil would slash demand for fuel outweighed news that Opec will hold an extraordinary meeting next month.

Investors are now putting cash into safer areas and have pushed oil's price down by more than US$60 from its record high above US$147 in July.

Court authorities in the U.S, specifically Texas will be able to track students with a history of skipping school under a new programme requiring them to wear ankle bracelets using satellite technology.

But one group is worried the ankle bracelets, with global positioning system monitoring, will infringe on students' privacy.

Linda Penn, a Bexar County justice of the peace, said she expects about 50 students from four San Antonio-area school districts will wear the anklets during the six-month pilot programme.

"We are at a critical point in our time where we can either educate or incarcerate," Penn said, linking truancy with juvenile delinquency and later criminal activity. "We can teach them now or run the risk of possible incarceration later on in life. I don't want to see the latter."

Penn said students in the programme will wear the ankle bracelets full-time and will not be able to remove them.

"Students and parents must understand that attending school is not optional."

As per Kim Hill doing an interview with David Ray Griffin in the last week or two on National Radio, mp3 podcast here, this shows once again like the film Loose Change and Alex Jones investigation into it, fire can not bring a building down like it that day. Now looking at the latest NeoCon operation for so called security (whilst threatening freedom) in NYC, that is Operation Sentinel.

Operation Sentinel, a new program unveiled by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), would encircle Manhattan with thousands of surveillance cameras that photograph every car or truck entering and exiting the city across its network of bridges and tunnels.

Information captured by this intrusive project would be stored in a huge database for an undisclosed period of time. Additionally, a network of sensors installed at toll plazas would allegedly be able to capable detect radiological materials that could be used in potential terror plots, the New York Times reports.

However, the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) has denounced the proposal as "an attack on New Yorkers' right to privacy." NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman lambasted this outrageous proposal saying,

"The NYPD's latest plan to track and monitor the movements of millions of law-abiding people is an assault on this country's historical respect for the right to privacy and the freedom to be left alone. That this is happening without public debate, and that elected officials have had no opportunity to study this program is even more alarming." Last month I reported on a high-tech surveillance system under development by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) called "Combat Zones That See" (CTS).

The 2003 program was predicated on the notion that once thousands of digital CCTV networks were installed across occupied or "homeland" cities, CTS would provide occupying troops–or police–with "motion-pattern analysis across whole city scales." Based on complex algorithms linked to the numeric recognition of license plate numbers and scanned-in human profiles, CTS would furnish troops–or cops–real-time, "situational awareness" of the "battlespace."

Despite repeated attempts by NYCLU to obtain information on Operation Sentinel, NYPD and DHS have refused to provide any information about their mega-surveillance system. While all traces of CTS disappeared from DARPA's website, portions of the program have resurfaced with a vengeance, courtesy of the NYPD and DHS.

According to New York Times reporter Al Baker,

Data on each vehicle–its time-stamped image, license plate imprint and radiological signature–would be sent to a command center in Lower Manhattan, where it would be indexed and stored for at least a month as part of a broad security plan that emphasizes protecting the city's financial district, the spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said. If it were not linked to a suspicious vehicle or a law enforcement investigation, it would be eliminated, he said. While preventing terrorists from detonating a radiological dirty bomb or a nuclear device in Manhattan–or anywhere else for that matter–is certainly a salutary government function, the misuse of such a system for illegal surveillance of the citizenry cannot be ruled out in advance nor dismissed out of hand as mere paranoia.





In addition to civil liberties concerns–no small matter after all, given the repressive nature of NYPD and DHS–Operation Sentinel's grandiose scheme bank on technological systems which do not exist.

The Times dryly notes, the proposed plan "relies on integrating layers of technologies, some that are still being perfected." In other words, the program is rife with potential abuse by enterprising security contractors, many with documented histories of promising much, delivering little and with substantial cost overruns borne by the public.

The department currently deploys portable radiation vehicles known as TRACS, or Tactical Radiation Acquisition and Characterization System, which the Times claims can detect radiological agents such as cesium and cobalt, and differentiate "between dangerous ones and ones used in products like smoke detectors or medical devices."

 

US military funds mind-reading technology

Here's a mind-bending idea: The US military is paying scientists to study ways to read people's thoughts.

The hope is that the research could someday lead to a gadget capable of translating the thoughts of soldiers who suffered brain injuries in combat or even stroke patients in hospitals. But the research also raises concerns that such mind-reading technology could be used to interrogate the enemy.

Armed with a $4 million grant from the Army, scientists are studying brain signals to try to decipher what a person is thinking and to whom the person wants to direct the message.

The project is a collaboration among researchers at the University of California, Irvine; Carnegie Mellon University; and the University of Maryland.

The scientists use brain wave-reading technology known as electroencephalography, or EEG, which measures the brain's electrical activity through electrodes placed on the scalp.

It works like this: Volunteers wear an electrode cap and are asked to think of a word chosen by the researchers, who then analyse the brain activity.

In the future, scientists hope to develop thought-recognition software that would allow a computer to speak or type out a person's thought.

"To have a person think in a free manner and then figure out what that is, we're years away from that," said lead researcher Michael D'Zmura, who heads UC Irvine's cognitive sciences department.

D'Zmura said such a system would require extensive training by people trying to send a message and dismisses the notion that thoughts can be forced out.

"This will never be used in a way without somebody's real, active cooperation," he said.

A message left with the Army was not immediately returned.

Inside U.S controlled Pakistan

In a rare English-language message partially aired Sunday that is believed to be from Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader, Ayman al-Zawahri claimed Pakistan is now "virtually ruled from the American Embassy."

The Pakistani ARY channel gave a copy of the tape, whose authenticity could not immediately be verified, to The Associated Press. However, an AP reporter who has reviewed his past recordings said the voice sounds like that of al-Zawahri.

It is not clear when the tape was made, but it includes apparently recent pictures of ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and others in the ruling coalition, indicating it was created since the February election that brought President Pervez Musharraf's foes to power.

The audio overlays a series of images, including a static one of al-Zawahri, who along with Osama bin Laden is believed to be hiding in the rugged and lawless region along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

Earlier this month, some media reported they had obtained a copy of an intercepted letter from unnamed sources in Pakistan that urgently requested a doctor to treat al-Zawahri. A spokesman for a top Taliban leader in Pakistan denied the report.

In the tape aired Sunday, Al-Zawahri lists a litany of charges against Musharraf, who he says has betrayed Muslims by supporting the U.S. after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in its battle against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

"Pervez has insulted and compromised Pakistan's sovereignty by allowing the CIA and FBI to operate freely in Pakistan and arrest, interrogate, torture, deport and detain any person, whether Pakistani or not, for as long as they like, thus turning the Pakistani army and security agencies into hunting dogs in the contemporary crusade," said the purported tape from al-Zawahri.

Much of the hour-long address is an appeal to Pakistani soldiers to rethink their role in the fighting that has often pitted them against their countrymen, especially in the tribal regions.

Al-Zawahri also mentions last year's deadly military siege of Islamabad's radical Red Mosque - an incident that militants have often used to rally support for their cause.

"Every soldier and officer should absolutely disobey any order to kill Muslims or aid their killers," says al-Zawahri, who also singled out Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani as a "hostile enemy of Islam."

He urged Pakistanis to rise up and fight the United States or at least support the insurgents.

The tape carries the logo of al-Sahab, al Qaeda's media arm and, though in English, also has English subtitles and sometimes Arabic ones.

It was delivered to ARY by a man on a motorbike Sunday, according to Faizullah Khan, a reporter for the channel. It not only features static images, but also includes clips of interviews Musharraf has given, footage of him giving speeches and other video segments.

Ben Venzke - the head of IntelCenter, a U.S. group that monitors and analyzes militant messages - said it was the first official message released by al-Sahab in which the Egyptian-born al-Zawahri speaks English.

Al-Zawahri is a doctor by training and speaks English. In the tape he talks precisely and clearly, though with an Egyptian accent.

He apologizes for speaking "the language of the Muslims' enemies" but notes he does not speak the "charming" Pakistani Urdu language and that most Pakistanis do not know Arabic.

The tape's release comes amid U.S. pressure on the Pakistani government to do more to eliminate Taliban and al Qaeda fighters in its tribal regions bordering Afghanistan, areas considered militant sanctuaries.

The main ruling parties, however, have been caught up in internal political battles, including disputes over what to do with Musharraf. Last week, the ruling parties announced they had agreed to seek to impeach the president, ramping up the pressure on him to resign.

Musharraf, who took power in a 1999 military coup and dominated Pakistan for years, has been largely sidelined since the February elections but has shown no intention of stepping down.

However Pakistan's ruling coalition has announced it will seek the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, cranking up pressure on the U.S.-backed former general to resign.

Ruling party chief Asif Ali Zardari declared the decision Thursday was "good news for democracy" in Pakistan.

Announcing a joint coalition statement after two days of talks, he also said the four provincial assemblies should move motions demanding Musharraf take a vote of confidence from lawmakers immediately.

"The coalition further decided that it will immediately initiate impeachment proceedings. The coalition leadership will present a charge sheet against Gen. Musharraf," Zardari told a news conference, along side leaders of the other coalition parties.
